Design Miami/Basel 2013 – Galleria O’

The Galleria O., founded in Rome in 2009, showcases 20th-century Italian design, with a particular focus on the historical period between 1930 and the 1970s, highlighting figures such as Gio Ponti, Fontana Arte, and Ettore Sottsass. Alongside these prominent figures, the gallery also presents contemporary international design, encouraging designers to reimagine Italian traditions of “arts and crafts” in new works. For Design Miami/Basel 2013, Galleria O. presents an unprecedented collaboration between Fernando and Humberto Campana and Fendi, a globally recognized brand known as a master of materials. The installation emphasizes tranquility, sought in the white palette and absence of elaborate architecture, instead relying on a simple origami fold that transforms into an exhibition base. In the circular pathway, the floor takes on shades reminiscent of a winter sea, where various pieces emerge like islands of color or material.
